New Pastor at Scobey Assembly of God

New Pastor at Scobey Assembly of God
    Joey Jaynes arrived in Scobey, August 19 and held his first church services at the Scobey Assembly of God August 23. He and his wife Stacy, who will also be helping out in the church, moved here from Houston, Texas where he was an associate pastor for nearly six years with an independent church. He previously was an associate pastor in Peoria, Arizona with the Assembly of God Church for seven years and was also an evangelist for four years.
    He and Stacy were both raised in Pasadena, Texas, in the Houston area.
    Joey received his theology degree from Global University.
    They are now settled in the clergy home next to the Assembly of God Church, along with their daughter Kaylie, 6 and son Josiah, 3.
    Sunday school at their church begins at 9:30 a.m. followed by church services at 10:45. Wednesday night bible study is at 6:30.
    The Jaynes hope to get an active youth group organized soon.
 

Name Change Now Evident At Cemetery

NEW SIGN at the cemetery just west of town was manufactured right here in Scobey by Air Design. It was installed at the main gate Monday this week. The historic “Scobey Cemetery” sign was crashed into and severely damaged some time ago and this new sign gives a new name, in accordance with the establishment of a county cemetery district. Tester To Hold Forum In Scobey Tuesday, Sept. 7

Residents encouraged to attend discussion session on Port of Whitetail
    Senator Jon Tester will hold a public forum in Scobey Tuesday, September 7, to hear from residents of Daniels County on the future of the Port of Whitetail.
    All interested Montanans are encouraged to attend Tuesday’s hour-long meeting at 3:15 p.m. in the Nemont Friendship Room of the Daniels County Museum.
    Other dignitaries may be in attendance as well. So far, besides, Senator Tester, the only other confirmed participant is Michele James, Director of Field Operations from the Seattle field office of Customs and Border Protection.

    KCGM live sports broadcasts are again available to listen to on the Internet, but under a new addresss.

   The Scobey boys’ varsity football team on Saturday, September 4, will host Circle at 1 p.m. and the girls’ varsity volleyball squad will host Savage at 6 p.m. but there’s much more going on leading up to the 2010 version of Scobey Homecoming.
    Throughout the week there’s already been some special days at the school, usually involving some funky fashions, but Friday marks the day when things begin to heat up.
